Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Tribute to Traditional Symbols cleverly incorporates the auspicious decorative pattern of "seawater and cliffs" popular in China during the Ming and Qing dynasties on the dial through cloisonné enamel, gem inlay and metal engraving techniques. The details are delicate and full of appeal.
Vacheron Constantin Eternal Flow watchmakers first use cloisonné enamel technology to fix 220 hand-cut and shaped gold wires to the base of the dial. The whole process takes 50 hours. Then they apply enamel glaze and put it into the kiln for repeated firing for 70 hours, presenting a striking and bright color pattern. Finally, the dial is polished to make the glaze brighter and fuller, and covered with a layer of transparent enamel for protection.
The dial uses "cloisonné" as the background color and is embellished with gold foil, depicting the moving scene of seawater and cliffs under the starry night sky. You can see the cliffs in the center of the dial in four colors of green, orange, ochre and purple standing tall, and the blue sea waves rolling. The bezel is hand-carved with a bat pattern, symbolizing the auspicious meaning of the five blessings.
Moonlight Slivers watchmakers first fired several layers of dark blue Grand Feu enamel on the base of the dial, then hand-carved the wave pattern and filled it with white enamel and fired it to make the wave lines more eye-catching. The bottom of the dial uses gold foil applique and champlevé enamel technology to carve out waves and cliff patterns on extremely thin gold foil, forming a collision contrast with the filled black enamel.
